Where did the time go?????

Oh, my. I can't believe that I've not entered a blog here since February. I've finished the 90 day detox and have embarked upon a 6 week deep tissue detox. You can check these out at the Raw Divas.

I've been rather up and down with the raw food/SAD food, and have rediscovered this past week what the results of having wheat and dairy are:

* bloating
* weight gain
* sluggish mind
* sluggish bowels
* poor sleep
* fibromyalgia flare-up

So I'm back on the wagon again, and am looking forward to some delicious guacamole for lunch tomorrow. I'm also going to make some buckwheat bikkies (cookies) to nibble on. I really need to take the time to sit down, read through my uncook books, and make some menu plans for me.

I was going through old photos, and have found one that I will put up on the fridge in a magnetic frame to remind me what my goal is, and to be a deterrent to poor eating. I think that once I achieve my goal weight, I'll buy some beautiful fabric to sew up something nice for myself.

Blessings,
Gypsy Queen

Thank you, Mrs Bridget. Keep it simple to start with, making either a sweet smoothie or a savoury one. If you aren't used to having lots of greens, then just put in a handful to start with. Baby English spinach is nice an mild. Mix it with some bananas, a little raw honey (not heat treated or strained), a few drops of vanilla extract, and then some mango or strawberry. Very quick. Very simple. Very tasty. :-)

The 'normal' honey that you buy in the shop has been heat treated to over 40C (104F) and strained. This takes all of the goodness out of it. The following site ~ www.reallyrawhoney.com ~ has some great information about the benefits of raw honey.

You don't 'have' to add vanilla extract: you could leave it out. Or you could use ground vanilla bean seeds. A lot of this is personal preference, and finding out what works for you.

Do NOT add any milk!!!! This defeats the purpose of having a green smoothie in the first place. The bananas give a nice creaminess to the smoothie.

So far as taste goes, my nephew (who will NOT eat veggies at all) just loves my coconut & mango smoothie. He gulped it down, then went and poured himself some more. It's more the thought of drinking greens than the actual taste that seems to be the 'problem'.

Trust me: once you get hooked on green smoothies you'll never want to give them up!

Good for you for having a go. :-)
